Meeting with Prof. Antony Polonsky on the 26th of January
In commemoration of the Holocaust Remembrance Day, Lithuanian Jewish Community organizes a meeting and discussion with Prof. Antony Polonsky, the Albert Abramson Professor of Holocaust Studies at Brandeis, chief historian of the Musuem of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw. VYI’s Director Sarunas Liekis will be moderator of the discussion “The History of the Jews in Lithuania, Poland and Russia”. The discussion will be held on the 26th of January at 18:00, in the Lithuanian Jewish Community, Pylimo str. 4. Everyone is welcome!
In October, 2016 the Lithuanian Embassy in France hosted presentation of the book by Yves Plasseraud „Irena Veisaite: Tolerance and Involvement“.
The book is about the life of Irena Veisaite, a Lithuanian theatre scholar, human rights activist, and Holocaust survivor in Lithuania. Veisaite‘s life can be viewed as a resumé of the XXth century East-European history. The presentation of the book and discussion was moderated by prof. Sarunas Liekis, director of the Vilnius Yiddish Institute.
